Shopping raya! (with less fortunate kids)

every year my family will join in with an organization that helps less fortunate kids to go to educational trips, raya-shopping and more.

my dad is friends with a volunteer, En. Karim, from this organization (don't remember the name!) and he was the one who exposed us to this yearly activity.

how it works is, my parents donates a certain amount of money to this organization, and they will plan out the activities for these kids and us.

so last saturday, we went to raya-shopping with the orphans from Jerantut, Pahang!

kesian budak budak ni.. i tell you, my heart shatters when i hear their stories. some of them aren't orphans but they are really poor sampai takde duit nak gi sekolah.
ada sorang tu, her parents are separated, she lives with her mom and she has 9 siblings. her elder siblings don't come home and support her mother, so being the youngest, she was neglected. her mom can't afford to put her in tuition and i think of old age, her mom macam penat nak layan dia. so dia biar je la budak ni nak buat pape, buat laaa.
but this girl baik sangat.
eventhough her mom gave her all the freedom any 12 year old can never have, she was disciplined enough to get herself to school, do her school works and most importantly, stay in school.

kamannnn!
kalau kita masa 12 tahun, mak bapak kita tak kisah kita gi skolah naik bas, van, jalan or tumpang orang, kita dah lama escape kot! gi lepak kat 7eleven. baca magazine sambil minum slurpee. or pergi cyber cafe. main CS, Dota, Warcraft or pape kejadah la kan. kan kan kannnnn!?!

she's now a prefect and she wants to become a doctor. =D
cool kan? respect~
and she was my 'anak buah'!

haa, yang baju hijau is miiiiinnneeeee!! (btw look at Aisyah's shopping bag!) =D

abah tengah bagi goodies.
ni some goodies that were given to them. ada food, kuih raya and bicycles!! 1 for each student. =D

orang-orang yang join this kerja amal. (ada lagi bawah tent)

so bulan Ramadhan ni, alhamdulillah my family and I berjaya buat kerja amal jariah. maybe it seems not much, but hey, at least ada gak effort, and that counts! niat tu penting kan?

oh ya! apart from the raya shopping and the prizes they got, they were brought to Petrosains, Aquaria, and macam-macam lagi la! sahur kat KFC ok!! heheee..

when i was with these kids, i rasa cam bersyukuuuuurrrr sangat sangat for having everything that i have now. i have everything i need!
from worldly things to people surrounding me.

i insaf. i will never say "i takde duit" lagi. coz itu memang tipu. kalau i takde duit pun, parents i ada. duit dalam bank ada. sometimes duit dalam pocket pun ter-ada!
semua orang ada financial issues but often we fail to remember how fortunate we are.

even anak buah i tak complain pun pasal kekurangan dia. instead, dia cari kelebihan dia. which is through her studies.

we should change our mind set. itu je. =)

Selamat Menyambut Bulan Ramadhan!

sesat ke sayang?

as a driver, i definitely have some pet peeves while on the road.

1. driving behind a driver who can't make up their mind or distracted. kejap signal kiri, kejap signal kanan. konon nak masuk junction, pastu tiba-tiba masuk lane balik. i get that you're confused, but you're confusing me too!

2. motorists. i don't mean all motorists are bad, but often i get stressed out by them. no offense! most tend to criss cross on the road, even when it's rush hour. it's not safe ok? cars want to change lanes too.

3. at night, people who flashes their highlights more times than necessary. i get that you want me to get out of your way but u nak i mati rabun ke? flash once or twice is ok. more than that, you have a problem. (patience man, patience)

4. people who don't let you cut them. honestly?!!? chill la!

5. sesat. should i elaborate?

fine..

okay so i had an interview just now in Shah Alam.
i knew of it since last week, and i kinda threw off the routine of google-mapping from my house to the place and just chill until today.
so i wrote down the directions from the map (as was given in the email), i google-mapped it too just in case and took off 2 hours before the interview.

just in case.

well, just in case was good. i was lost!
naturally. *sigh*

for those of you who do not and may not know, coz you didn't ask. well why would you kan? takde keje ke?
"maria, you selalu sesat ke? btw my name is Awesome"
whaattt??

eh eh. what i want to say is, i am prone to losing my bearings. that is to say, i lack in common-directional-sense.
hence saying, i ni senang sesat la.
pahal lu?!?

but you know what?

i love Malaysia and Malaysians.

when i was lost, i stopped at this cendol stall, and an Indian guy showed me the directions to get to the place i was looking for. he tried his best too! he asked me for more names like jalan or buildings near it, and he even called his friend! ya Allah, baiknyaaaaaa!!

so he gave me directions, but only to a certain point, and then told me to ask someone else because he doesn't know any further than that la. and so i stopped at a gas station, and a Chinese guy showed me how to get to my destination. nice kan??

1Malaysia gila =D

you know, i've been to Europe, and honestly, they're not really keen on giving directions. i don't know la if all of them are like that. but i kid you not, they're not as 'semangat' as Malaysians!

you can even ask directions from the tol lady and i dare say 98% will direct you to the right area. serious!

whenever i'm lost, i always ask for directions. and so far, i have never met anyone who turned me down. even those people who don't know.. ok cite lagi satu. =p

i was lost in KL right, so i asked this security guard for the place i was looking for la. he wasn't even local! but he was so determined to help me, he walkie-talked a lady and led me to her and then she pointed the way to me.

i mean, how baik is that?!

he may not be Malaysian, but helpful as hell he was. =)
that lady was too! she even suggested that i should get a drink. hahaha! (i was sweating like crazy masa tu)

so all in all, purpose of this post, is to highlight that, aside from our different race and religion, levels of education, qualifications, physical attributes, hair style, eye colour, how long your nails are, colour of your car, etc etc.. when someone asks you for help, you would try your best, wouldn't you? as others would do for you.

it's all good. =)

take care peeps!
Selamat Berpuasa! makan jangan gelojoh sangat. tak manis! hehehe =p

oh terawih

rasanya ni my first time ber-terawih di rumah. slalunya kat masjid UTP. before that, kat masjid matrix.

ahh.. terawih masa kat matrix..
let me explain briefly ok, to non-matrix people. matrix usually comprised of mostly muslims. and the masjid, being next to my block was very convenient.

so dulu bila gi terawih, selalu gerak cepat2, sebaiknya azan Isyak start dilaungkan je, my roomates and i pakai telekung cepat-cepat pastu pegi masjid. sume berebut nak diri kat saf paling depan.
ye la, kata orang, saf paling depan insyallah dapat berkat paling banyak. konon nya sebab dapat full blast dari imam and takde orang kat depan to distract u. in other words, boleh khusyuk la.

i remember this one time, and i remember it really well because.. well just read on la.

i am claustrophobic (fear of being closed in) you see. so masa tu terlambat kejap, maka saya dan roomate tak dapat diri kat saf depan. kitorang wedged in between people.

what was more, masa tu tengah humiddddd sangat! tingkap bukak, kipas pun on, still cannot feel angin.

so perempuan yg gi terawih ni, jarang lak kurang. slalu penuh and compact. tahap bila tahiyat akhir tu confirm bontot belah kiri atas kaki orang sebelah!
haa. amik kau.

so me being claustrophobic, dah tu padat, pastu panas, amboi, i bukannya sweating bagai nak rak!
memang rasa titik peluh kat leher and my back.
masa 2nd set terawih ni la ya Allah, i dari sujud position nak diri balik kan, boleh tak, i pitam kot.
pitam!
tapi tak jatuh.

cool kan?
sebab saf bukan main rapat, sampai the two people next to me punya shoulders support mine.
maka dengan kekuatan bahu-bahu diorang ni, i was able to perform my prayers and i started to understand why saf kena rapat.

bila saf rapat, the energy from orang paling hujung to you are connected. takde la magic sangat. it's science. imagine u line 5 balls in a row, then u hantam yg paling hujung, the other end yang react to the force. kan?
i don't know what you think, tapi i rasa cam logic.. =p

i guess that's what happened la. i dah pitam, but yet i can still perform my prayers.

masa pitam tu, in case u all tak faham, my vision memang dah pitch black, peluh sudah sejuk, cannot feel my legs and every rukuk and sujud rasa cam nak stop je kat dat position sebab i want the blood to naik my brain.

huhu.. lepas habis je semayang tu, i diri cepat-cepat, lari gi blakang and then baring kat a small space dekat ngan tangga.

since then bila semayang jemaah, i mesti rapatkan saf.
biar lah panas, tapi bagussssss! i might be helping a poor soul yang lembik mcm saya. huahua!

maaf ye kalau macam nonsensical betul post ini. =B

Selamat Berpuasa!!

Slash and His Grandpa

Hi! my name is Maria (maw-ri-yahhh)~~ cis, boxxy's starting to rub on me..
anyhoos! i went to Slash's concert last night with my darlingness. admittedly, i don't really know his songs, also Guns N' Roses.. and i did try to study his songs on youtube before going to the concert, but then you know, sekali imbas, mana nak ingat all songs.
nonetheless, they were really good performers! they all played NON-STOP from 8.15pm to 9.30pm! NON-STOP! and they're not malaysians so you can see how sweaty they were to the point i rasa they can pitam due to heat-stroke.

but nahhhh. It's Slash!

ni Amy Search's drummer. BEST SIOT INI MAMAT!!

oh sorry.. tadaaa!! Slash!
Slash and his poses =B

but what really caught my attention was someone in this picture. see him?
PAKCIK!!! pakcik tengah record with his phone!!!
Pakcik suko!! Pakcik suko!!! Pakcik nok Encore!!!

this Pakcik knows how to ROCK you gedik-ers!
He really deserve all the respect in the world for being strong (amidst the crowd and standing throughout the concert) and being such a cool sport. i hope when i'm old and grey, i would still be at concerts of my favourite bands. and rocking my arthritis off!

=D
