Girl talk part 4: The Receptions

more than 1 reception or in malay, bersanding.

amboi over nak lebih. bukan dua majlis persandingan, tapi 3 uolls!
deep in my heart, even not so deep also, i was surprised when mom told me there'll be 3 persandingan!
i was confused, a bit confunded (did harry potter cast a confundus charm on me?) coz i thought it's only normal to have 1 reception for my family's side, and 1 for my husband's side.

but oh well.
since mom planned it like that, i pun "ok ma" je la.
malas nak argue. nanti kang jadi drama masa nak kahwin, tak best gak.

so after nikah session that 15th december, around noon i changed into my mom's nikah baju kurung which she wore on her nikah day 30 years ago (gangsta gila masih elok!!!!), a blue shawl beli kat jalan tar, and the same veil i had on during the nikah.

Asfirdaus wore baju melayu johor yang dah di-taburkan with manik special johor and songkok with bulu ayam.
it's a johor style reception =) and it was only for our families from my mom's side and my dad's side.

tokmak brought her hadrah friends to serenade us while the old ones merenjis kita and it was all so fun!
they liked it when we respond to their singing and after the merenjis they told us to dance along to their songs!!
i and asfirdaus mana la pandai tari menari ni.. main hantam je!!

malam tu pula, another reception, but it was themed "Mafia" because Asfirdaus loves The Godfather, and because it was only for close friends and relatives, we thought "might as well make it fun" and it was!

our friend Amin (kesian tuan badan tak ternampak =p) sangat into the theme! haha! gun is fake though =) jari pun not on trigger, sebab dia sayang kitorang. ngeeheheee!

we danced spontaneously, because it just was so romantic that night =')

the best part was this.. he sang for me =')

memang sweet sangat!!

the next day, we had our last reception which was for all the friends and relatives and sape sape la yang important to my parents.

it was really tiring that weekend but it was really really fun!!

what happened in the morning

of 15th december 2012.

kalau tengok from this picture, can see how dark red the inai on my fingers kan.

well, malam tu ada orang datang meng-inai-kan myself and some of my family members.

adat inai ni memang la orang kata bukan islamic ke apa.

but to me, i bukan nak follow any other cultural traditions ke apa, i only thought of its symbolism.

my husband muka agak la babyface, and myself, i look like i'm 16 years old.

(kalau ada orang rasa nak termuntah dengan statement iolls, sila muntah jauh jauh ya. nanti busuk bilik, iolls takmo tanggung. wahhaha =p)

ok anyway, because i knew we look kinda young, the inai (i feel) will avoid fitnah. sebab orang nampak inai kat jari, terus fikir dah kahwin. 

some more my husband and i tak pegang tangan (since i dalam proses penghijrahan), so when we can hold each other's hands after marriage, i memang pegang la kan. saje menggedik =p

and because we're holding hands, i memang rasa a bit worried if people think we're just couples ke apa.

again, back to how young we look.

ngehehe =p

i pun takde la kerawang kerawang mende tu sangat. because like i said, i just want people to know i'm married, bukan nak tunjuk artistic ke ape ke. (sebab i jakun kahwin ok? bila tak jakun, and if the inai dah hilang by then, then biar lah. if i want to, i can top up again the inai and pretend im a newlywed. no hal la. ihik!)

i honestly don't want muslim youngsters to think it's ok to hold hands bila couple couple.

if a guy can control himself from touching a girl, and a girl can control herself from menggedik with a guy, they're on the right track, in sha Allah =)

but if dah pegang dah pun, it's not too late to stop. Allah Maha Pengampun dan Maha Mengetahui, in sha Allah apa yang diniatkan di dalam hati, Dia redhai. =)

anyway, the inai!!

the inai the kakak did for me was from a bottle. i pun tak tau la apa brand ke apa ke. my mom yang set it up for me. 

yang kelakar nya, pagi tu kan masa amik wudu for solat subuh, the inai's colour ran jugak.

i didn't notice it until dah morning.

what happened was, i saw myself in the mirror looking rather brown. i actually wondered if this was what they all said as "seri pengantin". aneh sungguh, my seri made me look browner. 

what's weirder was brown tu bertompok tompok!

it was concentrated at the nose area, and uneven lak tu!

i gi toilet lepas tu, and washed my hands, and only then that i realised it was the inai yang menompokkan mukaku!!

tergelak iolls masa tu.

how i thought it was seri pengantin tu yang takleh blah!!

i told my mom about it and we had a laugh!

and i told Faressa, my cousin and my makeup artist, so that she can make me look normal. ahakkk!!

alhamdulillah, i looked super normal, a bit tanned, but oh well. at least tak nampak tompok tompok brown on my face. 

GHAHAHA!

so siapa2 nak berinai, just make sure it's not the kind that will run down. or just be careful.

=p

ps: don't ask me about inai jenis apa la ek, coz i honestly do not know. all i know was that it's from a bottle. kakak tu kata her own mixture. which i have no idea what.

Girl Talk Part 4: The Nikah

assalamualaikum =)

last week on my 25th birthday, was the day i got married to mr asfirdaus =')
i can't believe it, and even after a week, it seems very surreal!

this year, many of my dear friends got married and my friends yang kahwin dah and yang belum all said the same thing about me.

"mesti you nangis masa nikah!!"

and i did!
hehee..

here's my nikah story =)

our nikah session was to be at 11am. so that day, after subuh prayers, i got myself ready.
mom dah ready kan breakfast for the whole family sebab we know masa nikah and after pun mesti susah nak makan.

masa tengok pelamin pagi tu, rasa excited sangat!
"ya Allah, this is really happening!" - i thought to myself sambil makan karipap.
pelamin dah la cun gila! my mom & chenta weddings came up with the theme! i never knew how it looked like until they finished it! punya la tak involved ngan ceremony sendiri. heheheee..
and after eating and mingling with my family, i went upstairs for makeup in my lil bro's room. sorry arief. haha! =p

my cousin, Nina Faressa, yang makeup kan. she did my engagement makeup too! she has really good soft hand skill (not many have this. banyak kali i rasa cam kena seksa bila di-makeup kan) and she knows the kind of makeup i like; not heavy and not too bright.

anyway, after makeup, i went straight to my mom's room to wear my dress, which was made by my cousin, Nina Natessa. Faressa and Tessa are sisters btw =)
i don't know much about designing so at the designing stage a few months ago, i just told my mom the kind of dress i want, and mom conveyed it to Tessa. coz to me, i just want simple and nice dress/baju kurung. shape, colour, length, blablabla, sume tu i leave it to mom and Tessa. i was working and studying kan, so i hadn't had time to think about the baju.
alhamdulillah, the dress was exquisite, made with such intricate beadings yet simple and lovely!

so after getting ready, we all sat and wait. well, not really. while waiting, i had to do a lot of poses for the cameramen. haha!! it's good anyway, i was already nervous. posing awkwardly to the camera distracted me from my jitters =)

and then... rombongan pengantin lelaki sudah tiba.

mom and i went down, and the moment when i reached the downstairs, i saw Asfirdaus, in white baju melayu and black songkok. we looked at each other for a while and then we looked away. that moment, all i could think of was "this is it". 

i whispered "bismillahirahmanirrahim" all the time while walking towards the pelamin.

annnndddd.. i was fighting back tears =)

unfortunately, when i sat at the pelamin, i cried. couldn't contain it any longer!

but takde la teresak esakkkk! tak cute la kan. hahah!

i cried when i saw my dad.

i'm the only girl among his children, and he's letting me go to Asfirdaus.

i had so many mixed emotions then, but what really made me tearful was the thought of how i wished i could do more as a daughter. i wished then that i could give back to my Abah, who have struggled so hard and so much when my brothers and i were younger.. 

the night before the nikah, my dad came to my room. he hugged me and said "i'm going to miss you". as i was looking at him then, on the pelamin, i really really felt that i will miss him. a lot.

and then i looked at mom, who sat next to me.

mama, mama.. hehe! 

since ages ago, mama always said "i won't cry la. i'm not emotional." and always "mesti abah yang nangis!"

oh how wrong was she!!!

when i looked at mama as she wiped my tears, she cried!!

and then i took the tissue and wiped her tears!

and then tiba tiba dua dua gelak, sebab it was funny.

i cried looking at mama crying and she cried looking at me crying!

hehehee!

i just felt so much love for my parents at that time. i just want to pause everything and tell them how much i love them. just for five minutes at least. but i don't have such power. all i could do was smile (tearfully) and pray in my heart.

my parents have done so many for me, for my brothers, for their families. my mom planned everything herself, from nikah sampaiiiii reception.

i did only 1% of the whole thing, which was to be there.

i think all this emotional rollercoaster was just about 2-3 minutes but it felt like ages.

and then, ustaz started the ceremony.

alhamdulillah, dengan satu kali lafaz, sah la kita sebagai suami & isteri =')

i was so proud of abah and asfirdaus. abah was so calm and steady, asfirdaus was confident. both were articulate =)

i cried again of course, because i was both relieved, happy, sad, and all bunch of emotions. that's being a girl! haha!!

ultimately, i was grateful to Allah SWT, for allowing all this to happen.

syukur alhamdulillah, i can't even give words to describe how grateful i am!

Allahu Akbar =')

akad nikah selesai in one brief moment, and when Asfirdaus, my husband, went to perform his sunat prayers, i just sat there, trying to digest what just happened. i tried to put back my thoughts together, coz it seems to be buzzing all around, and i just want to remember everything. =)

my hubby came back, we signed the documents, and alhamdulillah, selesai sudah! 

and then, it was salam salam session between me & Asfirdaus =)

i was so shy masa tu! nak pegang tangan dia rasa cam was-was je! 

i was like "eh dah boleh pegang, tapi nak pegang depan orang ke? eh eh eh?"

pastu dah pegang nak salam tu, macam "WAHH INI SERIOUS NI WEHHHH BOLEH PEGANG!!!"

hahaha! macam jakun!

pastu bila diorang suruh my hubby cium dahi, rasa malu gila yang teramat sangat!!

dia cium pun kat atas tudung, sebab i elak. hahahaha!

we were all smiles that day!

i was so happy that i didn't even feel tired! wait, it's not that i did not feel it, i felt tired, but i was ok with it. sebab i had so much fun!

with all my closest friends and families, with my in-laws and families, and of course, with my husband, how can i not be happy? =')

How to Berzakat

assalamualaikum =D

i just want to share with you about Zakat.
some people don't have a real understanding what zakat is for, why we have to pay zakat, and more.

ok so firstly, zakat pendapatan is wajib for all working muslims. whether you kerja kat rumah or kat office or whatever, if you dah dapat gaji, you are entitled to give zakat. even if you dapat allowance, you are still entitled to berzakat.
'Give' zakat, not 'pay' zakat.
big difference.

to give zakat, means kena berniat untuk membayar zakat atas nama Allah swt. if you've been giving zakat through counter PPZ (Pusat Pungutan Zakat), you lafaz akad depan officer tu.if online pun ada je lafaz tu =)  papepun lafaz tu cuma sunat hukumnya, yang penting kita niat zakat.
next, the amount to give zakat is only 2.5% of your pendapatan.
say you have RM1000 allowance monthly, so RM25 je zakat perlu diberi. tak banyak pun kan? but this much pun you can feed a person for a full day! and bila seorang tu yang dapat your share of zakat kenyang, pahala goes straight to you!

but if you're in doubt as to berapa kena give to zakat, can always call PPZ at 1300 88 5757, just go to the nearest PPZ, or go to their website =)
oh, they also have Facebook! so tanya je la pape kat sana if you happen to be on fb kan =)

i've mentioned earlier about giving zakat either through PPZ or online, well i have been informed that they would prefer to have us to berzakat online.
why?
coz it's easier to sort out that way. and for those yang ada habit berzakat at the last minute, better la buat online sebab kalau kat maybank2u or cimbclicks or whatever online banking, you can set dah monthly deduction terus to lembaga zakat negeri.
payment can be done through PFX (debit card) and credit card from islamic banks. the resit will be given to you within 7 working days.
for those yang nak guna Skim Thohir (skim potongan gaji zakat), all you need to do is fill up a form called Borang Kebenaran Potongan Gaji (PPZ 052) online and PPZ-MAIWP (MAIWP - Majlis Agama Islam Wilayah Persekutuan) will follow up with you on the rest. this process will take about 7 working days.

efficient kan?

giving zakat online pun senang for us nak check our zakat records. whether our zakat given kat counter or online, still can track back. senang kan? =)

zakat ni pun boleh dapat rebate on income tax!
siapa2 yang kena bayar income tax, with all the zakat given throughout the year, including qadha zakat, boleh ditolak dari Cukai Pendapatan Individu according to Akta Cukai Pendapatan 1967 seksyen 6A(3) for that year.
fuuhhh!!! rasa sungguh lawyer sekarang =p hahaha!!

but if you're the boss atau you best friend ngan boss, tell them to remitkan partial or all PCB (Potongan Cukai Berjadual) to PPZ-MAIWP according to pembayar zakat nya rate =)

for example,
income tax (PCB) = RM 100
zakat bulanan = RM 80
balance = RM 20

sonang hidup yo!

btw, worry not about where the money will go.
PPZ mmg ditugaskan to cari sumber, collect and give to Baitulmal, who will agihkan all the zakat to golongan asnaf yang layak menerimanya. they have a system for this, and they do it Lillahi Taala =)

so i hope this is enough info for the time-being!!
i punya knowledge pun tak banyak mana and i'm still learning.
if you have some knowledge pasal zakat to share, please do!! sebab i cuma belajar through online je. heheheee =p

the kind of cars

assalamualaikum =)

it was this year when i finally changed my car; from an old school secondhand kembara to a proton preve.
i had my kembara since i was in my first year in uni.
and that was 6 years ago!!
i've been using that car for 6 years!! LAMA GILA! i did change at one point to a le petite chevy, but only for a while sebab my grandma needs the car more. she doesn't drive of course, dia ada a freelance driver who takes her to supermarkets and stuff for a day.

so from my experience (of using a secondhand car), i suggest people yang sedang mencari kereta baru to get a car yang fits your affordability.
ramai yang rasa kalau baru nak get a first car, lebih baik amik yang used ones, sebab takut kena langgar ke apa ke, at least tak sayang sangat, and of course coz it's a cheaper option.
tapi kena fikir gak bab maintenance.

some used cars memang ok je eventhough dah tua. tapi some cars lagi used dia, lagi teruk maintenance dia.
so kena betul betul check inside out of the cars.
and that requires a lot of car knowledge.

as a girl, i memang almost zero knowledge la bab kereta. that's why i have my hubby to help me most of the time. =p

sebenarnya, boleh je orang nak afford to buy a new car gak, instead of getting a secondhand one.
macam Proton Saga FLX 1.3 or 1.6 SE.

i ada baca that it's got RM2000 rebate and no service charge for a year. roadtax dia zero kot for 2 years! and after that, nak renew costs only RM5.
lagi murah dari renew driving license. haha!! =p
dah la the car have good safety features, it's fast and it's very fuel efficient.
untung gila la kan beli kereta baru pastu dapat rebate, roadtax RM0 to RM5 je, selamat, cantik, maintenance murah. apa lagi ekau nak? haha!

i remember driving my old kembara.. the max speed i could go was 100km/h, and tu pun dengan shaking shaking yang menggegarkan lemak. haha! andddd sangat kerap kena gi kedai service sebab it had so many problems. in a month tu, wajib ada car problem at least once. gila kan? *tsk tsk*

so as a conclusion, i just think anyone yang nak get a car to not only think of the cost of the car, but consider the 'hidden costs' like fuel, roadtax, service, etc, sebab sebenarnya yang menyakitkan kewangan kita is the maintenance of the car. and try test drive a proton car la k? saga FLX la kot yang i rasa macam financially ok. =)

zaman dulu dan zaman kini

because of my blog's unfortunate incident of losing all of it's (my) pictures, i actually took the liberty to re-upload some of them back. 

those yang on the sidebar la mainly. senang sikit ikut categories. 

anyhoots, i was looking through my old pics, and i reminisced those days when i was in university =)

in university, my girlfriends and i did loads of things together, and how i wish i could share the crazy fun things we've done in my blog, but we were younger those days.. and we didn't cover ourselves well. so all the memories are in our minds and only be revisited when we meet again, when we whatsapp each other about it, or when we look back at our old pictures..

and it's all good =')

and i had just as much good memories with my girlfriends as i had with him, my future husband =)

we met in our third year, and got on till today!

what interests me most now is how different he looks everytime!!

he's like a.. like a.. chameleon? tapi dia change ikut suka hati dia, bukan ikut background. hahaha!!

he sent us of to Umrah earlier this year =') short hair dah. 

mata makin sepet. eh ye ke? tak tak tak.. eyebags je makin tebal akibat rajin bekerja =)

and this one, very recent. =)

all the time, short hair dah skang. no more long hair. and always wearing smart casual clothes. jarang gila tengok dia pakai shirt biasa and slippers.

he's changed physically a lot.

i still look the same. hehe!

but we've changed a lot since we first went out together. characteristically, i mean.

he said, from the time he fell in love with me, he wanted to marry me.

of course i wanted to marry him too.

and alhamdulillah,

we honoured our promise to each other (about being married to each other of course) and with Allah's permission, tak lama lagi dah kita akan di ijab qabul kan.

=)

so adik adik sekalian, kalau nak kahwin, jangan lah kerana gatal, nak tangkap gambo sweet sweet bagai.

nak kahwin kerana it's right di sisi agama demi Allah swt because once married, it's all about responsibilities.

may Allah swt tetapkan jodoh yang terbaik untuk anda semua =)

How to shop overseas!

so nowadays memang i hardly shop outside, in shops. i just shop online coz it's easier and cheaper. heeheeee =p

a lot of you (girls) have asked me too about online shopping too, whether boleh caye ke tak, barang online dalam gambar sama tak ngan real life, etc etc.
truth is, a few times i bought my stuff salah size and lain dari gambar. tapi what can i expect, with cheap price, memang la takleh expect sama quality macam designer stuff kan. hoho!
so i advice to you online shoppers to read the description of the baju thoroughly. like check the measurements, please, and read thoroughly on how to make payment and stuff.
online shops always have that.
