Officially a Specialist

assalamualaikum! =)

recently i went to a crash course called T.O.P.S

Training Of Palestine Specialist.

since my last post (so you say you care), i memang couldn't let go of this issue.

here's a little flashback in case you didn't watch the video.

bombing in broad daylight. not once, not twice, but multiple times. and the bombs were dropped at residential areas, schools, and more..

this is Amira, and here's her story (cut short)

and here's a little girl calming the boy down coz he kept asking for his mum. and she called herself mum for that boy.

i don't know about you, but this little girl have more sense than i had ever had when i was a child. imagine them being your children. ='(
so.
what now?
since my first time watching the video, i knew i had to do something.
i had donated but it just didn't feel enough.
then, Alhamdulillah, Pn Faridah of Aqsa Syarif invited me to this course and i was beyond excited. it was as if my prayers were answered!
but of course, this was just the beginning. there're loads more to learn and i'm trying to grab as many opportunities as i can to help.

you see.
once upon a day, i was asked by an ustaz
"apakah nikmat yang anda dapat, tapi anda tak mintak?"
i had answered several like the ability to see, talk, touch, think, etc.. and then he added
"Islam"
"adakah awak mintak dilahirkan sebagai seorang islam? ada awak mintak dilahirkan di sini?"
masyAllah.

nikmatnya...
Allah swt memang Maha Penyayang.
i have taken that nikmat for granted.
and now, i hope that you brothers and sisters (who are reading this) to please..
bersyukur.
ucaplah Alhamdulillah.
alhamdulillah you're not the ones in the video!! alhamdulillah you're facebooking/twitting/watching movies with friends/reading this blog/etc!
ALHAMDULILLAH!

and now, let's fulfil one of our responsibilities. not just as a muslim, but as a human being, to berjihad!
fight against our one clear enemy: Zionists.
but know this: Zionisme is an ideology, Judaism is a religion.

we are at war with Zionists!

i couldn't thank enough to Prof Madya Dr Hafidzi for sharing his vast knowledge tirelessly. he's such an inspiration! and of course, i thank Allah swt for providing me this opportunity.

now i'm an official Aqsa Syarif volunteer, i hope that i boleh istiqamah in this perjuangan.
and i really really hope that you're willing to help Palestinians, our fellow ummah.
i don't know if this small effort of mine is fruitful, but i have to try kan..

and this part here, is where you decide what you want to do:

to help
or ignore.

your choice.

Pray For Palestine
Palestine Will Be Free

to volunteer, go back to my previous post >HERE< where i have explained on which organisations you can join.
it doesn't cost much to be a volunteer. just your physical and mental strength.

salam.

Taking haters lovingly

Assalamualaikum wbt, ukhti & akhi sekalian!

how gangsta am i? i've blogged quite frequently lately!
*claps to myself*

anyway, i've had time to make a video the other day.
yes, dah nampak video kat bawah terus click play pastu tak baca kan mende i tulis ni kaaannnnn!!!
hoho!

ha, tengok la. pastu baca sikit apa i tulis kat bawah yaaaa! ada cerita di sebalik bideo. thanks! =)

ok here are the reasons why i made this video:

1. because i get tweets about how to handle haters
2. because i get messages about how to handle haters
3. because i feel like i owe haters an apology and give them my thanks

ok? so yeah. i've been receiving messages about this and please peeps, i tak sedih sebab haters!
i'm not sad, depressed nor hurt by the haters! if i looked sad, it's probably coz i was sad at myself (for personal reasons which i wont story mory here la. heeee..)

i wrote in the description of this video too about how these 'haters' are actually my saviours, but i guess people don't read that bit. hahaha! oh well. my bad gak la sebab i didnt mention it myself. i was talking spontaneously kan. takde script mende pun. buahahaha! =p

i can't believe though, how many people asked me about this. and i macam "kamaaannn, takkan la ramai sangat orang ada haters neeehhhhh?"
like i said in the video too, there are 2 types of 'haters'.
one species just wanna troll.
one species just dont know how to give their honest brutal opinions nicely, but they mean well.
=)

kids, teens, and young adults,
why so serious?

my mom used to slap me when i did something wrong and scolded me, but i love her more for that. if she hadn't done that, i'll probably be some messed up person now. before you say things about my mom, i totally deserved all that coz i was a very stubborn child.
same applies to these 'haters'.
they might be very angry or something at you, but there must be a reason why they're like that. probably you did something wrong but you're just too proud to see it.

drop that ego!

chill and learn je.
i memang la ada terasa sometimes, i am human after all. a girl, with feelings, with harry potter bantal and cats. and dresses and flowers. motip? ok, you get the gist. =p
but oh well. we can't win over all hearts.

okie dokie?
capisce?
capsicum?
milo ais? teh tarik? neslo?
pergi mamak, cakap hello. sekian pantun dua kerat.

so dah dah la k nak down down coz of 'haters'. if you happen to have haters yang jealous of you or whatever, then stay away from that person la. if the person cari pasal ngan you, you just bagi dia jumpa pasal yang baik about you. how's that for an awesome advice? you just have to trust me, coz i'm an engineer. hahahahaah!! (sorry ter-9gag jap)

chill k?
the world needs us to keep on improving. and to my 'haters' who happen to read this, you need to improve too =)

thank you all!
peace.

OH MY INGGERIS!

Assalamualaikum!

Sesetengah orang tidak faham akan kepentingan dalam menguasai Bahasa Inggeris.
Bukan nak cakap English tu penting gila sampai tak reti cakap bahasa ibunda. No!
Bahasa Melayu is important, but being able to speak in English is an added value to everyone’s capability. Sedar tak sedar, perkataan-perkataan dalam Bahasa Melayu kita ni pun kebanyakkannya derive dari bahasa inggeris.

Example:
Terer.
In English is terror, which means an instance or cause of intense fear or anxiety.
But “terer” in malay means hebat, bagus gila, awesome to the max.

Horer.
In English , Horror means an overwhelming and painful feeling caused by something frightfully shocking, terrifying, or revolting; a shuddering fear.
Whereas “horer” in Malay means menyampah, entahpape, geli, dan seumpanya.

ha. Amik.

I don’t know any other countries who do what we Malaysians do: Speak multiple languages in one sentence. Seriously!
Speak tau! Bukan nyanyi! If you notice, kokopops aka kpops ke, Hindustan ke, Turkish ke, they put random English words in their songs so that we, yang tak faham what they’re singing about, can at least understand the English parts. But when they talk, they don’t “campurkan” their language like how we Malaysians do.
That’s how cool and awesome Malaysians are!

So back to importance of English.

Saya, selaku ex-English tutor, memang strongly encourage everyone to try and speak better in English. I know loads of students that are good at writing and answering questions in English but bila nak cakap, takut takut.
Remember, it’s just a language. Kalau berterabur mana pun, it’s still considered cool that you can speak more than 1 language! =D

Oleh sebab saya bukan seorang guru Bahasa Inggeris dan takde la “terer” mana pun, anda anda sekalian boleh tingkatkan lagi Bahasa Inggeris anda dengan menonton Oh My English! di Astro pada 20 May 2012 di Astro TVIQ(channel 610)! Program ni berkonsep komedi dan dibintangi retis retis popular tau! =D
Pergi la ke website mereka dan berjanji untuk bercakap English dengan lebih baik! Hehe!

Saya dah buat daaahhh! Good luck ya!!

Blue like the ocean

Assalamualaikum earthlings!

i went to Puchong yesterday with my younger brother, Arief.

Arief is an intelligent boy who likes to ask questions and sometimes i get annoyed with his ridiculous questions.
often i just tell him to google it himself since he's always in front of the computer anyway.

but since we were in the car at the time, i couldn't answer him that now could i?

at first he asked me about my job, which i answered patiently.
and then he asked me why the sky is blue.
hmmmm.. quite tough there coz it has been a while since i've been in touch with the science in normal life.
i answered him with the basics.
"coz of the atmospheres la. kan there're layers of atmosphere, so as the light from the sun reaches the earth, the only colour that we see is blue."

"oh ok" he said. in my head i was like "phewwwww!" glad he didn't press on the question coz i really forgot about the physics of it. muahaha! =p

and then he asked me
"then kak ena, why is the ocean blue? when we were on the plane, i saw the ocean being green and brown most of the time. but the picture taken by astronaut of the earth shows that it's blue. why?"

*krik krik*
HOMAGAHHHH!!

AKU TAK TAU NYAH!!

it's true kan? when we're near the sea or flying over it (macam superman), the ocean is not blue as how the picture of the earth is.

c'est interessant, mon petit frere..

i said "i think the astronauts lied. they photoshopped their pictures!! curse them for feeding us with liessss!!". anda, kalau anda percaya saya dramatic macam ni memang nak kena.
haha!

i was just kidding!

i told arief that i don't know. i never thought of the differences of the ocean colours from bird-view and from outerspace view. nyahahaha! so we just made a pact to research on that when we get home.

nak tau the answer? dont care. imma give it anyway. ahak!
1. Some of the sunlight is reflected off the surface of the water, reflecting the colour of the sky
2. Some of the sunlight penetrates the water and is scattered by ripples and particles in the water (this tinges the appearance of the ocean with the color of the particles). In deep water, much of the sunlight is scattered by the oxygen in the water, and this scatters more of the blue light.
3. Water absorbs more of the red light in sunlight; the water also enhances the scattering of blue light.
thank you Mr Google! full stuff right >here<

ha amik kau. a 15 year old boy asked a simple question and a 25 year old "engineer" me didn't succeed. hahaha! so what's my point here? i'm no genius! peace. =p

okeh, may i have some chillpopia?
why, yes please-ness!

Green Henley Tunic top from ThePoplook \ Printed shawl i scored for RM 5 at KL vintage festival (so much win!!) \ Jeans from jalan mak joyah \ Vans shoes \ blablabla =p

an unnecessary vain shot of me. bengahahahaha! =p

anyway, today is Mother's day! i know many voiced out that mother's day should be everyday, and to that i agree too, but to have one day where everyone everywhere bersepakat to treat their mothers, i think that is just awesome. but again, mothers should always be celebrated and treated specially everytime =)
aaaaaaaaaaaaannd not forgetting our fathers too!

Happy Mother's Day to all mothers!
may Allah SWT bless all of you for being awesome. =D

peace.

i is blushing, you knoz!

i went to KLCC the other day with my bestest best friend looking out for potential hantaran (for me. whoop!)
we sort of know what i want, but nak jugak check it out.
and then biasa la, bila dah tengok tengok benda yang perlu, kita jalan jalan la and window shopped. i loike. haha!

as we were walking, we went pass by this shop which played Justin Bibir's song very loudly
"i know you love me, i know you apentah, blablabla..."

and then best friend ni pun got into that boy-band move where he just took one step front and did that jambu-hand thing (pretty hard to explain really, but one can imagine bibir's move style la) and abruptly stopped. i was entertained but tak syok la baru satu step dah stop!

i asked la
"eh, apasal stop? sambung la!"

then dia jawab
"tanak, nanti flash mob kuar!"

ahak ahak ahak!! it was so funny! i never expected that kind of answer!

and then at one floor, where the hallway was clear, dia buat lagi move camtu!
and then he stopped abruptly, again!

i of course urged him to go on lagi but he said "takleh, i tanak bagi flash mob kuar. see, ada orang kat belakang. baru nak join la tu", which was hilarious coz memang ada 2 orang behind us and i didn't even realise!

aduh! kelakar la mamat ni ='D
usually people would answer "eh tanak la, malu." or "you la buat!"
but this dude, no.

and last night, he called me right before 12am, and when it was midnight, he said "jap jap.... Happy Anniversary"
eventhough i couldn't see his face, i knew he was smiling that cute smile of his sampai tak nampak mata and muka banyak smiling keduts. heeee =) i is blushing, you knoz! (buat tangan sotong sekali)

ini lah dia. my soon-to-be other half.
he's creative and he's always cheering me up when i'm not feeling so great. he's the only one i truly trust and rely on. he's my dictionary, my banking advisor, my therapist, my happy bank, everything!
our love story is a real long one and it didn't start out as flowery as people would imagine. it was tough, but alhamdulillah, look at us now =')
we took a 180degree turn too when i started hijab-ing, but it's all good. he's been taking care of me (and my aurat) very well!

this is a declaration of heartful feelings towards my bestest best friend.
thank you for standing by me all these years and encouraging me towards becoming a better person (for Allah's sake).
most importantly, thank you for accepting me =)

today marks our 3rd year of knowing each other (yes, baru tiga tahun. hehe!) and i'm grateful to Allah swt for introducing this awesome dude into my life.
Syukur Alhamdulillah.

love always,
maria shmaria <3
